Key Outcomes & Impact (First Half 2025)

Innovating Science: Co-designed Research & Multimedia

  • Presented a co-designed VR Museum at Brazil's largest indigenous gathering (ATL).
  • Successful showcase led to requests from several other indigenous communities for project expansion.

Inclusive Innovation: Building Digital Capacity & Co-designing Futures

  • Co-hosted the first-ever innovation hub at Acampamento Terra Livre (ATL).
  • Offered digital skills workshops (AI, photography, music) to 10,000+ people from 200+ ethnic groups.
  • Conducted formal consultations with 15 key indigenous leaders on AI and innovation.

Assessing Barriers to Indigenous Participation in Climate Science & Policy

  • Examined barriers for indigenous leaders in climate science and policy debates, ahead of COP30.
  • Findings being synthesized into a formal policy report with recommendations.

Inclusive Museums: Examining Exclusion of Indigenous Ecological Knowledge

  • Challenged exclusion of indigenous knowledge in museums (e.g., Bioparque Pantanal museum).
  • Resulted in the institution pledging to include indigenous names on its exhibits.
  • Work will inform a report for the Brazilian Museums Association and a new data visualization at UCL’s Grant Museum of Zoology.
